Anyone out there with a Heart Rate Monitor??????
Okay, I have already admitted that I am computer challenged. I am also apparently Heart Rate Monitor challenged–ie meaning I HAVE NO IDEA IF I AM USING THIS THING RIGHT!!!!! I promise, I read the manual and did the online tutorial. I am still not certain if this thing really works! Don’t get me wrong, I love it and love the things that it’s telling me…I am a little skeptical that the information is correct. For instance, I wore it today to my Jazzercise class. I worked hard for an hour and at the end of class it said I burned 629 calories/30% fat. Can this be right?? It just seems like a lot of calories to burn in 1 hour?? I have the Polar F11 HRM and it’s gotten great reviews and is suppose to be accurate…….but IS mine????? It also kept saying I was working out of my heart rate zone?? Am I on the verge of a coronary collapse?? Should I have paramedics standing by?? I felt fine throughout my workout but the HRM kept saying I was working above my target zone?? Anyone out there an expert with Heart Rate Monitors?? Anyone just have one and actually know how to work it??? Any good articles to read about this?? Have ANY thoughts on this topic?? I am open to suggestions and would appreciate any advice you may have to offer! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the Welcome, and I can tell ya i have def burned over 700 calories in a hour on the tredmill and i think jazzercise is pretty demanding so that number could def be right. For Heart monitor, i have no idea! haha, but i know when i have used one on the tredmill it always has funny readings, so im a skeptic. Hope all is well, and good luck with your next Dr. appointment!
hmm. mine is not so high tech but you could’ve burned that many calories or the meter could be off given your age, weight, fitness level - it can only predict so much. you can ask Mark the personal trainer fitness guy here. I bet he could help!
It honestly sounds about right Brenda! Just using a calculator online that only factors in “aerobics” and your weight…it came out to nearly 500 calories. So…if your heart rate monitor was taking a better measure of you…ie…working harder than normal with a higher heartrate than normal…it seems about right to burn that much.
Way to go you!!
I wish I could help you buddy
but see, this time I am more illiterate than you!!
not even sure what you are talking about it !!
but you are doing something right !! keep working hard!
I was going to say that it sounds about right. I mean I can burn that much on a treadmill but if you are still having questions I’d ask someone at the gym or even maybe your doctor. I can’t help more then that, SORRY, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you are burning that much. And if so YOU GO GIRL!!! I’m back and so sorry for my absence! I have really missed talking to you.
